Why the project started

We are constantly trying to improve the services we provide to local communities in rural Northumberland and to help us we need the honest views of our residents.

When we have consulted in the past it could not be clear that the views of all sections of the population were being taken into account. That is why we have set up a citizens’ panel called "Rural Views" . It comprises 600 members from the Alnwick district and Berwick borough with representation from every ward and age group so that we can get an accurate picture your diverse needs and views.

How the panel will work

Three or four times a year, we will post, or email a questionnaire about local services, for residents on the panel to tell us how they think we are performing and what we could do better.

What will we do with the information?

The information provided to us through the completed questionnaires will be carefully examined to see where we can make real improvements to our services.  We will use it to help us plan, prioritise and deliver the best and most efficient services possible, based on residents’ needs.

What will residents get in return?

After every questionnaire, we will give feedback so that residents can see the results of the survey and how their contribution is influencing decisions and service improvements.

There will also be a cash prize draw every time a questionnaire is completed.
